Sometimes, it’s entirely possible for a prop to come from virtually nothing. In this particularly case, the entire existence of the prop hinged on nothing but the discovery of a small wood cutting board that sort of kind of reminded me of a primitive shoulder stock. Around that cutting board I formed a story of why the stock would have looked like that, and what kind of weapon it would be attached to, and for what overarching reason. It was this process that gave rise to the Nobyl, a hulking revolver rifle influenced by Soviet, Ukrainian, and post-apocalyptic themes and designs. Amazing what just a little story can lead to!
